Audio Stop Smoking System

Revolutionising Smoke Free Spaces with Audio Messaging

In 2015, Musgrove Park Hospital, part of Somerset NHS Foundation Trust, pioneered an innovative approach to promoting a smoke-free environment, by using no-smoking audio messages. Following its success, this unique system has now been commercialised, making it available for organisations looking to enhance their smoke-free policies without direct confrontation.

Originally designed to address smoking outside the maternity unit, this initiative helps relieve staff from the discomfort of face-to-face enforcement. The system is simple yet effective, by using either a discreet button, located behind reception or in communal areas or a timed system that triggers an audio message reminding individuals that the site is smoke-free. With a variety of recorded voices — young and old, male and female — the messages play on a loop, delivering a fresh reminder each time the button is pressed or the timer is activated automatically.

Since its introduction, multiple audio stop-smoking systems have been installed across Musgrove Park Hospital. Now, this powerful tool is available for hospitals, GP surgeries, gyms, schools, community centres and organisations seeking to maintain a healthier environment.
